Info on A.P. STUDY CIRCLE

The Andhra Pradesh Study Circle was established in the year 1979. It is an autonomous body registered as a Society. It provides exclusive coaching to Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe and Backward Class candidates for Civil Services examinations conducted by the Union Public Service Commission and it is working under the aegis of Social Welfare Department.

Schemes and Programmes

Coaching programmes are organized for Civil Services as follows:

• Civil Services Prelims ( 5) Months December – May
• Civil Services Mains ( 3) Months August – October
• Civil Services Viva (Personality Test) April – May

Coaching programmes are also organized for the following as when Notifications are issued by UPSC or the State Government Services at A.P Study Circle in addition to entrusting the programmes to the A.P Study Circle Branch at Visakhapatnam and Pre Examination Training Centres attached to the Universities viz., at Guntur, Tirupathi, Anantapur and Warangal.

  OPTIONALS  :

1. The  Study  Circle  shall  impart  guidance  in such  optionals  identified  by  the  Chief  Consultant  every  year  according  to  demand  and  available  resources  provided  a  minimum  of  five  candidates  are  selected  for  enrolment  in  each  such  subject.
   
   
2. Instructions  will  be  in  English.  Members  admitted  for  guidance  wishing  to  write  in  Telugu  medium  will  be  given  guidance  in  Telugu  language  provided  at  least  5  such  members  opt  for  Telugu  Language.

9.         ENROLMENT  :

I  (a)  All  the  candidates  seeking  enrolment  for  guidance  in  the Study  Circle  shall  apply  in  the  form  named  1st  screening.

(b)  The  candidate;  who  in  the  opinion  of  the  Study  Circle,  can be  helped  taking  into  account  his  ability,  shall  be  called  for  2nd  screening  test  where  the  candidate  may  be  asked  to  write  a  test  and  also  appear  for  an  interview.       

(c)   The  candidates, w hose  performance  both  in  written  test  as well  as  in  the  interview  is  found  to  be  satisfactory  shall  be  selected  for  enrolment  for  guidance.

10.       CATEGORY  OF MEMBERS  ENROLLED  FOR  GUIDANCE  :

1. 40  candidates  belonging  to  Scheduled  Caste  and  Scheduled  Tribe  communities  in  the  proportion of  as  33.7  shall  be  enrolled  provided  that  the  candidates  parent's  or  guardian's  income  from  all  sources  including  his  own  income  does  not  exceed  Rs.12000/-  p.a.,  the  membership  in  this  category  is  not  necessarily  restricted  to  candidates hailing  from  Andhra  Pradesh  only  (vide  resolution  No.5  of  M.C  &  G.B.  dt.  08.03.1985).
   
   
2. Not  more  than  10 candidates  belong  to  other  communities  especially  listed  Backward  Classes  hailing  from  Andhra  Pradesh  alone  shall  be  enrolled  provided  that  the  candidate's  parent's  or  guardian's  income  from  all  sources  including  his  own  income  does  not  exceed   Rs.12000/-  p.a.,  and  provided  that  the  Director  of  Backward  Classes  reimburses  the  expenditure  on  these  candidates.
   
   
3. Every  members  enrolled  for  guidance  shall  execute  a  bond  (Enclosure - II0  non-judicial  stamp  paper  of  Rs.5/-  and  abide  by  the  terms  and  conditions  therein.

VIVA  MEMBERSHIP  :   III  (a)  All  the  members  enrolled  for  guidance  in  the  Study  Circle  who  qualify  in  the  Civil  Services  Main  Examination  shall  be  enrolled  for  guidance  in  Viva  provided  the  members  except  members  belonging  to  Scheduled  Caste,  Scheduled  Tribes  and  Listed  Backward  Classes  whose  parent's  or  guardian  income  including his  own  income  is  within  the  limits  prescribed  in  rule  15  (a)  shall  have  to  pay  the  fee  that  is  prescribed  in  rule  16  (b).

11.       SCHEDULE  OF  FEE  :

1. For  all  members  enrolled  for  guidance  the time  duration  f or  either  preliminary  or  Main  Examination  the  time  duration  for  Viva  guidance  for  which  the  duration  shall  be  ass  decided  by  the  Chief  Consultant,  according  to  the  necessity  and  time  available  every  year.
   
2. The  following  shall  be  the  Schedule  of  Fee  subject  to  proportionate  reduction  in  case  the  duration  is  less  than  four  months.

                     (i)   Preliminary  Examination  for  General  Studies  and  one 
                        optional                                                                  :           Rs.1500/-
           
                     (ii)  Civil  Services  Main  Examination  for  General  Studies  with 
                         either  one  or  two  optionsl                                 :           Rs.4000/-
                    
                   (III)  Viva  guidance  not  less  than  10  days  :           Rs.350/-

Meeting  held  on  27.02.1984         of India and State  Government's  Schemes 

VI. Every  candidate  belonging  to  any  forward  caste  and  whose  income  (either  personal  or  family's)  is  below  Rs.12000/-  p.a  will  pay  only  half  of  the  prescribed  fee  for  Preliminary  and  Main  Examinations.  For  the  other  fees  that  is  for  the  Viva,  enrolment  and  application,  it  remains  the  same.

12.       CANCELLATION  OF  ENROLMENT  :  

The  Chief  Consultant,  A.P.  Study  Circle  has  the authority  to cancel  the  enrolment  of  any  member  on  the  ground  of  indiscipline,  irregularity  in  attendance  and  poor  performance  in  the evaluation  tests  conducted  by  the  A.P.  Study  Circle  on  the recommendation  of  the  Academic  Co-ordinator,  A.P.  Study  Circle and  he  cease  to  enjoy  all  facilities,  i.e.,  boarding  lodging  and  Academic.

13.       HOSTEL  :

            I   (a)   Enrolment  is  open  to  candidates  belonging  to  SC,ST  and  listed  Backward  Classes  whose  parent's  or  guardian's  income  including  his  own  income  does  not  exceed  Rs.12000/-  p.a.

                (b)  Each  eligible  candidate  is  entitled  for  Rs.25/-  p.m  as  pocket  money  during  the  guidance  period.

                (c)   Eligible  candidates  shall  be  provided  with  free  boarding  and  lodging  facilities. 

                (d)   The  manner  in  which  the  boarding  facilities  are  to  be  provided  shall  be  decided  by  the  Secretary.
