The Commission prepare the prelims cutoff basis of General Studies (GS) Paper 1 only. However, candidates are required to secure at least 33% in GS Paper 2 to qualify the exam. UPSC will prepare the cut off separately for each category. UPSC Civil Services 2019 prelims exam is a screening test and is qualifying in nature. Therefore, marks secured in this stage will not be considered while preparing the final cut off for the exam. Candidates can check previous years' UPSC IAS cut off in the table below.

Candidates securing the prescribed cut off or more in prelims will be shortlisted for mains exam. UPSC IAS mains comprises total 9 papers. However, the cut off of mains is determined on the basis of 7 papers as Paper A and B are qualifying in nature, i.e., candidates have to obtain minimum 25% in both Paper A and B to be considered eligible for the next stage of the examination. The cutoff for mains is calculated out of 1750 marks. As per marks secured in UPSC Civil Services mains, candidates two times the number of vacancies will be shortlisted for Personality Test (Interview). The Commission will prepare the final UPSC Civil Services cut off 2019 on the basis of aggregate marks obtained in mains and interview. The cut off will be determined on the basis of total marks secured by candidates out of 2025 marks. Candidates obtaining equal to or more than the final prescribed cut off will be assigned posts in various services of Union Public Service Commission including Indian Administrative Services (IAS), Indian Revenue Services (IRS), Indian Police Services (IPS) etc. Candidates can check previous years' UPSC Civil Services final cutoff below:
