Basic info on various emerging services :

IRTS controls Earnings part and IRAS control Expenditure part of Indian Railways. IRTS officers are Operational Heads, Supposed bosses for Indian Railways. Public interaction is most here. The amount of work load is huge, so limited deputations. Service conditions are Good, but gets V.Good after Junior Scale . 24 hours jobs. Women struggle in this service because of long working hours.

Whereas IRAS is Finance heads for Railways. IRAS is one of the few services with officers as Secretary in different departments at center. Deputation opportunities are ample in this service. Service conditions are decent in the beginning, but gets V.Good after JAG . Work life balance. I suggest Women should prefer this service over IRTS. Limited Knowledge to the public, All other officers in Railways regard this service v.good and depend on this service.

IRPS is Human resources department of Indian railways. It depends on the psyche of individuals. These guys will become chairman of RRBs after 20 years.

RPF is security part of Indian railways, it is paramilitary organization . So you will have security guards to take care of needs, and light on the car type of things - feel good factors. They are supposed to get more powers under their ambit in future after CST episode. But now they are more in liaison duty with state police in respective states.

IDAS : The Defence  Accounts Department (DAD) which has evolved over the last 250 years, is responsible for payment, accounting, financial advice and internal audit of expenditure of the  Army, Navy, Air force, Ordnance Factories, R & D and inter service organizations. The Department is in the service of the services since 1747. The departmental training responsibility of the IDAS Probationers was assigned to the RTC Pune. The training is now conducted under the aegis of NADFM Pune.

ICLS : ICLS is the company law service of Government of India. It is one of the Central Civil Services (Group A). The Service functions under the Ministry of Corporate Affairs and is concerned primarily with the administering of the The Companies Act, 1956 along with the The Limited liability Partnership Act, 2008.Before 2009, It was known as the Indian Company Law service. The service was rechristened and renamed from Indian Company Law Service to Indian Corporate Law Service in 2009 AND gave a new service option to those who qualified the Civil Services Examination. The ICLS Academy, located at Manesar Campus of the Indian Institute of Corporate Affairs (IICA), has the responsibility for conducting the induction training for the Probationary Officers. There are 291 Group 'A' ICLS posts, which include 60 posts newly created on 5-11-2008

ITS : The Indian Trade Service (ITS), Group 'A' Civil Service, was created as a specialized cadre to handle India's international trade & commerce in 1965. Indian Trade Service probationers are trained at prestigious Indian Institute of Foreign Trade, New Delhi. The training is divided into class room teachings and practical training in form of various attachements. ITS officers are experts in foreign trade negotiations. They play a major role in Indian entering into trade agreements with various countries. Besides these various SEZs and EPZs in Nagpur, Surat, Bharuch, Mundra, etc are headed by ITS Officers. Currently Mr. A. Bipin Menon is working in India's Permanent Mission at WTO as First Secretary. At present Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT), Ministry of Commerce is the cadre controlling authority of the ITS, has many regional offices across India, and plays a significant role in India's foreign trade with its policy formulation and implementation.

ICAS : Officers of ICAS are trained in three stages. For the first 10 months they are trained at National Institute of Financial Management (NIFM), Faridabad and National Academy of Direct Taxes at Nagpur along with officers of IDAS, Indian Postal-Telecom Accounts And Finance Services. After NIFM training office of CGA attaches ICAS officers to the Institute of Government Accounts and Finance [INGAF]. In their third stage of training ICAS officers are sent for On-The-Job-Training (OJT) from INGAF.
